SkySwap program details

SkySwap allows public safety agencies to trade in non-compliant drones for credit toward new, secure, NDAA-compliant Axon Air DFR technology—keeping operations compliant and uninterrupted.

Program terms
Agencies can get started with the trade-in process by visiting axon.com/skyswap. To qualify, agencies must provide documentation of FAA registration and submit a Certificate of Decommission within 90 days of their new Axon Air contract start date.

Credits received through the SkySwap program are eligible to be used towards Axon Air contracts with a five-year minimum term, and all credit received through the SkySwap program must be used by December 31, 2025.

What is the current status of the proposed legislation on Chinese-manufactured drones?
The FY25 NDAA does not immediately ban DJI and Autel drones but establishes a process that could lead to their prohibition. Unless one of the authorized agencies actively determines that these drones do not pose a national security risk, they will be automatically added to the FCC’s Covered List by the end of 2025, restricting new purchases and software updates.
